Our Valentine’s Day success stories of our little heroes who fought in our ICU – NICU & PICU

Our Valentine’s Day success stories of our little heroes who fought in our ICU – NICU & PICU, while fighting against 2 different life-threatening conditions for more than 2 months!

Both required dedicated Neonatal and Pediatric Critical Care teams to respond to all challenging scenarios each and every day!

Both precious ones stayed for 67 days and 69 respectively at Orange Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.

  1. One Premature baby BOY was delivered at 26 weeks of gestation with 700 grams of birth weight, had a non-beating heart at birth, needed intubation and ventilation on the spot for survival. The baby had Severe Respiratory Distress Syndrome, which responded well to 2 surfactant administration and vigilant ventilator support. However, as he was suffering from Chronic lung disease/ BPD due to extreme prematurity he needed repeat ventilator support and CPAP support for 57 days. That’s almost 2 months!
  2. A healthy 9 yrs. old GIRL was feeling body ache and joint pain 1 day back and all of a sudden, she suffered a sudden stoppage of respiration, luckily in hospital premises, needed immediate intubation for survival.
She was diagnosed with GBS (Guillain Barre Syndrome- in which the body goes into complete paralysis with intact senses)
Later she needed tracheostomy and ventilator support for 50 days. Yes, one and half months it was.
One fight was going on in NICU
    Another one was in PICU
They are now absolutely healthy for discharge,
being a spontaneous valentine for each other!
